AFTER DARK NETWORKING SALONS
[upcoming
events]
After a long day, after a long week, wouldn’t it nice to be
able to sit around, have a cocktail, and smooze with other single
professionals? The “BOSTON AFTER DARK” NETWORKING
SALONS are a huge success. With so many single professionals resorting
to online dating services, local introduction services, and the bars,
this organization is a welcome addition to the options one has to
socialize.

Typically, well over a hundred attendess,
well-dressed and with a professional demure, exchange business cards
and many times telephone numbers and email addresses with the intention
of reconnecting after the event.
John is a single professor at BU, Mary is an
ER nurse at Mass General, Bill is a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch, Jim
is a self-employed financial planner, and Sue is an interior
designer…all networking. Some are just looking to make
business contacts while others are simply prospecting for a possible
relationship.
The ‘salons’ as they are
called, are always held at a very upscale hotel or restaurant from 6:30
- 9:30 PM.
Popularized in the 70’s at Studio
54 by Steve Rubin, the concept of bringing together hundreds of singles
as another way to network, grew into a major success. However, upon his
death and without his energy behind it, his original concept has been
pretty much forgotten over the last 20 or so years.
BOSTON
AFTER DARK is a not-for-profit
endeavor of a group of local business people who recognized the need
for a format for single professionals, 35+ years old, to socialize.
With hors d’oeuvres passed about
and beverages flowing freely, the atmosphere quickly changes from a
quiet room of strangers to a room of free-flowing conversation and an
atmosphere of “I know someone who‘d like to meet
you.”. 9:30 comes too quickly for most, so many linger on
solidifying contacts recently made.
BOSTON
AFTER DARK meets on a monthly
basis at various
restaurants and hotels within the Greater Boston area.
